A classroom at a Bendigo school was gutted by fire early this evening. Fire crews from Bendigo and Eaglehawk were called to the blaze at Eaglehawk North Primary School at about 8:20 PM to find the portable building well alight.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus took half an hour to bring the fire under control. Police initially suspected the fire had been deliberately lit, but an investigation showed the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
